CONJUNCTIVE ADVERBS

A conjunctive adverb is an adverb that connects two clauses. Conjunctive adverbs show cause and effect, sequence, contrast, comparison, or other relationships.These adverbs establish a relationship between one sentence or clause and the preceding sentence or clause. Conjunctive adverbs indicate such relationship as:

a. Result          : therfore, consequently, accordingly, hence, tus
b. Addition      : moreover, besides, in addition, furthermore
c. Contrast      : however, nevertheless, still
d. Condition    : otherwise
e. Time            : then, meanwhile
f. Comparison  : likewise
